Dual Boot

Post by Tom_C »

Hi All
Just tried to setup my computer to Dual Boot W98se
and W2000pro.
All went well considering it was my first time doing this.
I was able to choose which OS on Boot up.
After I finished loading some programs on 2000pro I
not longer can choose which OS to start with. On reboot
it goes right to 2000. I can still see W98 on C drive while
in W2000. Win2000 is on D drive
Any Ideas?

I had this problem too before. In fact, the OS was actually loading off the other drive (G in my case) but trying to read files from C... it was nasty and I had to delete both partitions to fix it.

It must have something to do with win2k, since in win98 it's fine right?

The only thing I know of that works is using partition magic or something to hide the other partition, and you'd have to unhide it when you want to boot there. Lot of trouble! :banghead:

Thanks for the response.
I found out what happened
Somehow after loading programs on W2K it changed
the Boot.ini Timeout from 30 to 0 seconds
The default OS in the Boot.ini is W2K
so I never had a chance to choose W98
While in W2K I could not find the Boot.ini on C:
Because I had to Untick "Hide protected Files" to
see it. After that I found Boot.ini and Changed Timeout back to 30
Thanks Buddy
